Solutions In Software, Inc. was formed in April of 1999 as a software and systems consulting company. A group of top-tier engineers from Raytheon Systems in Dallas, we were immediately engaged in the legal market and quickly saw a desperate need for sophisticated case management software (“CMS”). For our first four years we worked with major litigation firms to gather requirements, design, develop, deploy and upgrade a revolutionary program. Not until the second quarter of 2003 with multiple successes, strong client references, and the implementation of our second generation CMS under our belt, did we enter the broader market. The response has been phenomenal.
In 1999 SIS was engaged to “fix” an expensive custom program that was developed to
manage asbestos mass tort. We quickly discovered that less than 30% of all law firms,
and only a tiny fraction of large firms, had a CMS. Limited scope, inflexibility,
obsolete design, technological barriers, and many other factors contributed to a slow
adoption rate of CMS by law firms.
Working with two major law firms, SIS developed the CaseManagerpro prototype in 2000,
immediately breaking many traditional CMS limitations and boundaries. Truly enterprise
software and fully web-based, it was designed to manage high volumes of matters from
simple to the most complex, to scale down for small and up to large firms, and to
facilitate efficiency through organization, automation and communication.
By late 2001 we had already entered into contracts that assured a successful year of
implementations in 2002. Rather than using those proceeds to fund an aggressive
marketing campaign, we hired no sales and marketing staff and dedicated 2002 to
creating our second generation of CaseManagerpro. We took our legal education
and deep technical capacity, selected a sophisticated law firm as a new “development partner",
and literally started anew.
In 2002, we designed and developed a new object-oriented platform to streamline
customization and upgrades to the system, saving us and our clients’ time and money.
We integrated a groundbreaking workflow development module to standardize practices and
automate tasks and notices. Small modifications to the relational platform made it even
easier to navigate and automate, and increased the proven capacity to hundreds of
thousands of cases, and millions of records. A new security design brought unprecedented
control over user access, thereby paving the way for unparalleled collaborative abilities.
In 2002 we were selected as the backbone of the Motley-Rice legal operation, a national
operation with multiple offices and co-counsel now managing over 300,000 cases. In 2003
we were selected for their global $1 trillion law suit against sponsors of terrorism.
At LegalTech New York 2004 we released a major upgrade for the defense market, and were
quickly invited into some of the most significant and complex litigation management
scenarios in the country.
At the close of 2004, SIS has licensed over 1500 users in the most intense litigation
environs anywhere, and are rolling out to scores of co-counsel firms in complex
litigation cases across the country. CaseManagerpro Enterprise is used by
AmLaw 100 Firms and major corporations. As an Application Service Provider (“ASP”),
SIS delivers CaseManagerpro to small-town attorneys and emergency response for new
major mass litigation. We’ve been selected by firms such as
McDermott, Will & Emery and Hunton & Williams
to help them with national matters for Fortune 100 corporations involving tens of thousands
of cases. We have been selected by GMAC to handle its Residential Funding Corp legal offices.
